Silk cushion handmade from unpicked vintage kimonos (1970s)
Japanese silk cushion made from shibori silk (an ancient tie-dye technique involving hundreds of tiny knots tied and dyed)
I import beautiful kimonos from Japan, unpick the seams, wash the fabric and cut into the desired shape. Wadding and an inner cotton lining are added to the cover to make a padded, luxurious feel. The back cover is made from kimono silk, fastened with a hidden zip and a matching band of fabric from matching front cover fabric added to conceal it.
The kimono cushion comes stuffed with a duck feather pad.
