Quality of silk

 All items sold by KimonoSpirit are handmade from second hand vintage kimonos purchased from Japan.

I only purchase kimonos or obi sash that are listed as ‘silk’. I do not buy polyester or rayon kimonos.

If you are not happy with the item for any reason please contact me.

I do not accept returns when the buyer does not consider the item to be made of silk, although I am always happy to discuss the fabric and reach a solution.

Chirimen silk is a fabric woven in Japan, made from silk but with ridges. It resembles crepe silk and does not have a satin texture. All items made from chirimen silk will be listed as such.

I only buy kimonos stated to be in excellent condition. However, these are items of clothing that have been worn and may have stains. I try to use pieces of silk in my work with no imperfections but there may be the occasional stain or mark. This is in accordance with the age and wear of the kimono and cannot always be avoided.

Delivery

 I ship using Royal Mail in UK and aim to post items within 1-3 business days

Delivery times are dependent on customs and local delivery services.

UK: I always post first class unless second class or tracking/signed for is required – please contact me before purchasing

International: I post standard international rate, if you required tracked or signed for please contact me before purchasing

Estimated delivery times as follows:

UK – next day (unless second class)

Europe – 1-3 weeks

USA/Canada – 3-4 weeks

Elsewhere – 4-6 weeks

 If your item has not arrived within these times, please contact me and I will do what I can.

Items usually arrive within two months and I will not refund before this period has passed.

 

Customs and import taxes

For international orders I always complete a customs form, listing the item plus cost. I am not responsible for any delays caused by items being held up in customs and will not refund on this basis.

Buyers are responsible for any customs and import taxes that may apply.

Refunds and exchanges

 I accept returns and will exchange items, if possible. Often the item is unique so I will not be able to exchange for an identical item.

Contact me within: 5 days of delivery for return or exchange approval.

Dispatch items back within: 14 days of delivery with email evidence that the item has been returned.

I do not accept cancellations for custom or personalised orders.

But please contact me if you have any problems with your order.

The following items cannot be returned or exchanged:

  • Custom or personalised orders

  • Items that appear to have been used or picked up any smell (e.g. fragrance, smoke etc.), animal hairs or has any marks or damage of any kind

 

Conditions of return

 Buyers are responsible for return postage costs.

PayPal charge a non-refundable 5% fee so this will be deducted from payments refunded for returned goods.

If the item is not returned in its original condition, the buyer is responsible for any loss in value.

 All items will come with cleaning guidance instructions. If these have not been followed then a return will not be accepted.
